- "Never play with the feelings of others because you may win the game but the risk is that you will surely lose the person for a lifetime." - William Shakesphere
Often times people do things that play with other people, whether intentionally or unintentionally, either way, someone ends up getting hurt. Word to the wise: Be careful what you do and say because you do not want to lose a great friend over something that should not have been said or done.
- "The world suffers a lot. Not because of the violence of bad people. But because of the silence of good people." - Napoleon
It is so easy to keep walking or not say anything. And there are many reasons that people do not say things when they see something going on, some may include, peer pressure, not wanting to be the one to say it, worries about being ostracized etc. When picking your group of friends, do not only think about how they treat you, look to how they treat others. For example, the waiter at the restaurant. You can really see and learn more about a person's true colors by how they act towards other people.
Please take a stand. When you see something that is not right, whether someone is being picked on, someone is being rude and disrespectful, please say something. Obviously a bad person being bad is not good. It's bad. But what about the bystanders, the "good" people who just pass by and say nothing? How can you say that you are a "good" person when you see something happen and do nothing about it? Yes, you are not physically doing the bad thing, but you aren't doing anything to stop it (Note: I am NOT suggesting that y'all go all Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle on someone.) I AM suggesting that when someone says something mean, you say something. Not "That is so crazy and mean and I cannot believe you just said that and now we cannot be friends....etc" (Read that last sentence in a middle school girl's voice.) BUT. How about saying something similar to, "Wow, (insert name here), I didn't expect to hear you say that. You are always so respectful/kind/accepting/any other word that is NICE and non-attack-like. So. With that knowledge instilled in y'all's heads, we will move on.
- "I am thankful to all those who said NO to me, it's because of them I did it myself." - Albert Einstein
Okay. Let's be honest- no one likes being told no. That word makes toddlers mad and well, we have all seen those temper tantrums. BUT, sometimes, the word "No" is a good thing. Maybe being told "No" after a job interview, saved you from a job that was not going to work out or be right for you. Maybe the word "No" shut the door on one opportunity, but made you available for so many others. Maybe the word "No" saved your reputation, or even your life. Sometimes the word "No" is a good thing, but if I can tell you one thing that is for sure, no one likes being told "no".
- "If friendship is your weakest point then you are the strongest person in the world." - Abraham Lincoln
Friends=good. Point made.
- "We must learn to live together as brothers or we will perish together as fools." - Martin Luther King
There is no way that everyone on this Earth is going to agree all the time about everything. There just is not. That does not mean that we cannot get along and learn to respect the differences and agree to disagree. Most of the people on the planet are adults. (Note: Not saying that just because you are considered an adult makes you act like one. That is a whole different story.) According to the dictionary Merriam-Webster adult means: "fully developed and mature" (among other things). If the majority of the planet are adults, and adults are supposed to be mature, then why can't we realize that the only way that we are going to get along, is to agree to disagree? Just something to think about.
- "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." - Mahatma Gandhi
Amen. This kinda goes along with another one of my favorite quotes from Pinterest, which is below.
- "Apologizing does not always mean that you are wrong and the other person is right. It just means that you value your relationship more than your ego." - Unknown.
LOVE this quote.
- "Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."" - Mary Anne Radmacher
